Why not try and revive it? I used to lurk a little bit ((mostly after it had died, mind)) and those were some awesome characters. It seems a shame to leave it. The sense of community was obvious too.
You and the others could always try and remake it? Possibly make it open sign ups for a bit, I'd bet you'd get lots of activity and a dozen of great new members
This is just an idea, of course, I'm guessing you might not listen to me, considering you have no idea who I am, and I don't really know you either, except for the fact that your websites are amazing. xD So yeah, I'm going to shut up now, I think that would be a good idea.
